The Process of Glassmaking

There are three steps to make the glass. First is mixing the raw materials into the furnace. Silica in the sands, soda, and limestone as the raw materials are melted at temperatures of 1700 degrees Celcius for 24 hours in the furnace. During the process, we can add some substances like color powder or broken glass from a previous melt. Then, the second step is cooling the mixture several hundred degrees in order to make it easy to be formed. The third step is make the liquid formed. The liquid glass can be blown, pressed, drawn, or rolled. To make a bottle glass, the liquid is placed in a mold, and the air pressure is given against the side of the mold. While, to make a plate glass, the thick liquid is gone through the rollers until it has flat form. After that, place the formed glass in the oven to make it strong and then cooling it down at controlled temperatures. Finally, the glass has made and ready to be used.
